objet d'art
It’s a balancing act, objects pushing the laws of gravity. The precision of each form is essential to properly support these distinctive pieces, blurring the lines between art and furniture.
“Design has to work. Art does not.”
This craft isn’t something you’ll learn in your community woodworking class - like art, I wonder whether it’s something that can be taught? The designs are equally as minimalistic as they are complex, only a true visionary can successfully execute these functional pieces. The combination of shapes, materiality, & meticulous angles… all of which come together harmoniously.
Speaking of gravity defying objects…
Diamagnetic levitation of household objects hasn’t quite caught on as a trend just yet. Regardless of the science and wildly boring calculations that explain it all - well, I don’t have time for it and prefer to remain intrigued.
Obscure and MAGICAL, not words applicable to majority of life. If you’re not impressed to some degree I want to do what you do for a living. ;)
