Design Antidote
Aside from space planning, flow, and functionality, good design also integrates moments of discovery. Injecting personality in your space doesn’t have to be a huge investment and can easily be worked into your existing design.
Work these tiny sculptures into any vignette (tabletop, bookshelf, etc.) to instantly breathe new life into your space. As I created this post I did ask myself, why do these cute things elicit a positive emotional response? So I went to my favorite resource, Google.
In the simplest of explanations our biology does it’s thing and rewards us with a dopamine. Just as nostalgia offers a sense of comfort, humans tend to be drawn to objects reminiscent of childhood - hence little things.
We might have outgrown our Ninja Turtle figurines, but tasteful, miniature objects will always be welcome on our shelves.
